As a member of the Wendell Gilley Museum, you help to fund creative and inspiring exhibitions, educational programs, and outreach activities. The Museum, a non-profit organization, relies on dues and contributions for support. The Wendell Gilley Museum invites business owners to become the wind beneath its wings as corporate members. By supporting specific exhibitions and programs, or our annual Flight of Swallows benefit, you can help the Museum to soar. In return, you will be publicly acknowledged in exhibition and program materials, and receive membership benefits and the regard of the community for investing in a valued institution. Benefits vary according to the sponsorship, but all include public recognition of corporate members.
Communications and Admin Assistant.
Status: Part-time, year-round, permanent. Reports to: Director. This position entails a variety of writing and communication work, as well as general administrative work such as scheduling, maintaining calendars, and support for museum events. Read the full job description.
Status: part-time, temporary (4/15/2020 - 9/15/2020). Reports to: Director of Development. This position is responsible for the administrative functions of the development office including data entry of all donations and memberships; production of all thank you letters; filing; general correspondence; other duties as assigned. Volunteers are an integral part of the Wendell Gilley Museum. Our volunteers’ service is invaluable to making the Museum function smoothly, and to helping spread awareness of what the Museum has to offer. Volunteers work on a number of projects, from helping with carving classes and other creative programs to giving special tours to specific projects. A current exciting project is helping the Gilley to finish a complete catalog of its entire collection.
Who can become a Museum volunteer?
You can! Volunteer positions are open to all individuals who meet application requirements and are willing to commit to required time minimums (not applicable to all positions). We also suggest that volunteers become Museum members so that they may receive mailings about changing exhibitions and ongoing activities within the various departments. As members, volunteers also receive discounts on Museum classes and in the Museum store.
