New Exhibit debuts May 17
An exciting new exhibit debuts at the Wendell Gilley Museum on Friday, May 17. Inspired Flight brings together 48 works across diverse media that highlight our complex relationship with birds as well as the varying ways in which artists have engaged with and interpreted birds throughout the history of art. This exhibition showcases some of the most important works from the unique collection of the Museum of American Bird Art at Mass Audubon, including a bald eagle that is part of Andy Warhol’s Endangered Species portfolio.
Bas Relief Jars
Join Kathie Pratt and work in clay to create a nature-themed bas relief that you’ll be able to complete and take home that day.
Artists create a bas-relief by sculpting onto a 2-D plane to create and accentuate figures and objects, producing a 3-D appearance. We’ll be using polymer clay and baking it off, then painting it. Then, students will be shaping them around glass jars to make a decorative container.
Class size is limited.

People-Nature-Art with Marc Fink, Printmaker and Painter
Marc's art depicts mostly maritime or mountain themes, as this is where he spends most of his time enjoying the outdoors. An artist for most of his life, he holds bachelor's and master's degrees in fine art. Marc spends much of the year traveling, sometimes doing weekend art festivals, and exhibiting through select galleries. Traveling overseas enhances his artist's perspectives of the world. Marc also produces The Bar Harbor Fine Arts Festivals.
