Carving Lessons

Whittle-A-Warbler Carving Workshop

Saturday, June 17, 10 am - 4 pm

Whether you have always wanted to give bird carving a try, or want a unique way to hone your identification skills, this workshop will enhance your artistic and naturalist talents. Carve and paint a Wilson's warbler ornament during this one day carving workshop. This short workshop is ideal for beginning adults. Children 11 and up are welcome with an adult. Pre-registration required.

Fee: $25 Museum members / $30 non-members

Family Program

July 1 and July 8, 2017 1-2:30 pm

Encouraging the creative spark in all of us, we offer art and nature program for families for children ages 5 and up with their adult companions. The program will focus on exploring, learning, and creating art together. Registration encouraged.

In early July we will craft flamingo puppets. Come learn about these long-legged wading birds while making flying puppets to parade during the Flamingo Festival on July 15.

Abundance of Riches Opening Reception

Celebrate the special exhibition of woodcuts by Andrea Rich which will be on display July 1 through October 21, 2017.

Ten Days in Acadia Book Talk and Signing

Thursday, August 17, 2017 5:30 pm

Join author Hope Rowan for a conversation about her recently published book, Ten Days in Acadia: A Hiking Guide to Mount Desert Island. She will talk about her map-making process, taking field notes, and the value of exploring outdoors. The Museum will provide materials to make bookmarks.
